Udupi, Jun 24: Deputy commissioner of the district, G Jagadeesha, visited SSLC examination center at the government Volakadu composite high school here on Wednesday, June 24.

Speaking to the media persons after the visit, he said that the district administration has the huge responsibility of conducting SSLC examination successfully. "All necessary arrangements have been made in all exam centres like maintaining social distance, sanitisers etc. We have conducted a number of meetings with education department officials. I have visited other centres along with the CEO and DDPI. We had used three schools as quarantine centres a month ago and sanitized them twice. We have given instructions to sanitise all the rooms after every exam. Parents need not to worry about cleanliness in the school, as we have taken all necessary safety measures," he explained.

"We have arranged 82 buses for the purpose of transporting the students. The government has sanctioned Rs 4.60 lac for all the arrangements," he added.

There are four students from the containment zone, and we have earmarked separate rooms for them. If any students are found to be suffering from high temperature or normal fever, they would be accommodated in a separate room, he said, adding that the administration has identified 10 additional exam centres for this purpose.

Besides this, in response to contacts and travel history of a lab technician, who was corona positive, the deputy commissioner said, "We did come to know about their travel history and had they had contact with a person from Mumbai. We have also given instructions to file a criminal case against them. No one should hide the travel history or any information, which may cause public health hazard. If any person provides detailed information of their travel history, it can be traced easily."

"As many as 200-250 people are coming from Mumbai, Maharashtra to Udupi every day by train, bus and we have instructed them to be on home quarantine. We did not trace the primary contacts of three patients and are working on it. We asked permission from the government for the home quarantine. It is our duty to monitor its strict implementation. In Udupi, around 91% of quarantined homes were visited by health officials and other departmental officials. Kalaburgi is in second place. Public are not allowed to exam centres as section 144 has been imposed. Today the public is allowed visit to the center where they can share their suggestions," he said.

DDPI Sheshashayana Karinja said, "A dengue case was reported in SSLC candidates and we have made isolated room arrangements. We have made arrangements for four students who are from the containment zone."

School managements have marked squares on the floor to maintain social distance and kept sanitizers in front of every class room and also at the entrance of the school.
