Rahul urges people to join campaign against rising fuel prices

New Delhi, Jun 29 (IANS): Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday again took a swipe at the Central government for the rising fuel prices and urged people to join the campaign against it.

The former Congress party chief took to Twitter to show his resentment and stated, "Come and join #SpeakUpAgainstFuelHike campaign." This came after the state-run oil marketing companies raised the prices of petrol and diesel on Monday, a day after there was no hike in rates that were increasing continuously for three weeks.

Rahul Gandhi also shared a video wherein a person could be heard saying that the government is "rubbing salt on the wounds of people" by increasing the prices at a time when people are either unemployed or not receiving salaries.

"Amid coronavirus pandemic and tensions with China, the Centre has left the common man to fend for themselves. It is looting the country by increasing the price of petrol and diesel from the past 21 days. The poor and middle class people are helpless," the video narrated.

The video, shared by Rahul Gandhi, went on to urge the people to raise their voice against the hike, so that it lands on the "deaf ears of the government". The narrator asked countrymen to share the video of disgruntled people with the #SpeakUpAgainstFuelHike hashtag on their social media handle from 10 a.m. onwards on Monday.

At the outset, the Congress party has also decided to launch a five-day protest, starting June 30, against fuel price hike in each block of the country. The party would also hold protests, between 11 a.m. and 12 noon on Monday in front of the Central government offices against the fuel price hike, said senior Congress leader K.C. Venugopal on Sunday.

People need to understand that fuel prices are being increased not because of increase of price in international markets but to compensate the losses (during lockdown) for friends of Modi namely Ambani and Adani. This capitalist government is least bothered about common man at all. It has created the hate group which will target anybody raising the voice against the government and so far people are quiet.

Today opposition is weak and government is on roller coaster doing one injustice after another putting common man into lot of inconvenience. This way it will bring many people back to the poverty line.

Already people have taken the beating and it is matter of time that more and more people will realise. It may erupt into full blown civil unrest anytime in near future.

People believe in democracy must join for the campaign against RISING FUEL PRICES which is enormous!!! High fuel prices means rising cost of living for all and specially poor and medium income people face the burden???

International markets cost of barrel of crude oil is US Dollars 35 to 40 and the Government can sell for Rs.50/55 per liter or less including taxes!!! Whereas, they loot the poor by increasing prices on daily/weekly basis. Loot Maar????

Rahul , We are sorry Sir. Unfortunately we dont have that support base in Mangaluru. Even if they do , No one has the Dhum. I had gone and it was just 29 people at town hall. As mentioned by Modi Bakhts , Cong supporters are good enough to be internet Karsevaks with fake ids bashing the Govt. When it comes to ground work and reality, its a big Zero. Sorry once again, I understand , Its just pathetic.
