Brosnan Studied Tony Blair to Play Politician

London, Feb 18 (IANS) Hollywood star Pierce Brosnan closely studied former British Prime Minister Tony Blair to perfect his role as a politician in the new film "The Ghost Writer".

The film is an adaptation of British novelist Robert Harris' contemporary political "The Ghost" and Brosnan believed that the author had based the main character on Blair.

Contactmusic.com reports that director Roman Polanski had assured the actor that his role as Adam Lang wasn't based on the former British prime minister, but Brosnan wasn't convinced.

"I hopped on a train and met Polanski and the first question across the table was, 'Am I playing Tony Blair?' He said, 'No, you're not playing Tony Blair'.

"However, all roads, indications, emblems and stories seemed to point to him, so I looked at Tony Blair, his performance of Tony Blair being prime minister and his persona," he added.
