Injured Zaheer Ruled Out of ODI Series against South Africa

Kolkata, Feb 18 (IANS) India's pace spearhead Zaheer Khan has been ruled out of the three-match ODI series against South Africa beginning Feb 21.

Zaheer sustained a muscle strain in his leg Wednesday on the fourth day of the ongoing second cricket Test here. He bowled only six overs Wednesday and did not return to take the field Thursday.

The left arm pacer has been replaced by S. Sreesanth, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement Thursday.

The pacer is the latest to join the growing injury list. Opener Gautam Gambhir and middle order batsman Yuvraj Singh are already out of the ODI series with injuries. While Gambhir sustained a groin injury, Yuvraj is sitting out of the ongoing Test series with a ligament tear in his wrist.
