Doha: Curtain Drawn on Karnataka Sangha’s Sports Festival

Doha, Feb 21: Karnataka Sangha, Qatar (KSQ) concluded its first ever sports festival conducted for the expatriates hailing from Karnataka on Friday February 19. 

As part of the festival, indoor games too were earlier conducted at the ICC premises. Competitions began after the welcome address by president Arun Kumar. A huge number of participants thronged to ICC premises to take part in Carrom, TT and Chess competition.



The second part of the sports festival was the outdoor games that were held at the Ahmed Bin Hanbal Independent School grounds here on Friday. More than 160 people took part in the different categories of games. Arun Kumar welcomed the gathering. Individual games were held in the morning session for all age groups including the traditional games like chinni dhandu for men and novel marathon race for ladies. In the afternoon session, events like throw ball for ladies and cricket for men were held. 

Prize distribution ceremony began with a felicitation to the KSQ kabaddi team for winning the second prize in the recently held kabaddi tournament conducted by Tulukoota Qatar. Prizes for the winners of the various categories were distributed by KSQ committee members. The event was attended by Mannangi, vice-president, Arvind Patil, former president, Milan Arun, ICC head of indoor activities, Divakar Poojary, general secretary, ICBF and other KSQ committee members and members of KSQ Advisory Board. The event was co-ordinated by Deepak Shetty, sports secretary of KSQ.
