15 deaths, 1,498 new coronavirus cases push Karnataka tally to 26,815

Bengaluru, Jul 7 (IANS): Karnataka registered 1,498 new COVID positive cases with Bengaluru chiefly contributing to the infections as the state's tally zoomed to 26,815 cases, an official said on Tuesday.

"New cases reported from Monday 5 pm to Tuesday 5 pm are at 1,498," said the health official.

For the past several days, Bengaluru is recording the highest number of COVID cases in Karnataka and accounted for 800 or 53 per cent of the cases on Tuesday.

With Tuesday's cases, total cases in the city rose to 11,361, out of which 9,395 are active.

In the past 24 hours, 15 people succumbed to the virus in the southern state, four each in Mysuru and Bidar, two in Kalaburagi and one each in Bagalkot, Hassan, Dharwad, Belagavi, and Davanagere.

Among the new cases, excluding Bengaluru, Dakshina Kannada accounted for 83 infections, followed by Dharwad (57), Kalaburagi and Bidar (51 each), Mysuru (49), Ballari (45), Ramanagara (37), Uttara Kannada (35), Shivamogga (33), Mandya (29) and remaining in other places.

With 571 discharges, total discharges in the state increased to 11,098. Bengaluru Urban alone saw 265 discharges.

Meanwhile, the total number of cases in ICU also increased to 279.

The health department is managing to consistently test more than 15,000 samples a day and tested 17,742 people in the past 24 hours.

Though the total number of cases in Karnataka rose to 26,815, active cases are 15,297 and total deaths increased to 416.

    Students and Parents should put maximum pressure on the government.
    Without pressure, it is difficult to expect replies/updates. I have seen the social media profiles of many education ministers and they are filled with requests to postpone exams etc.

    There is also some news circulating that Covid-19 is airborne and we have to wait for updates from relevant organisations. I am not trying to scare you but there are increased chances for postponement but the SSLC exams might have an strong effect on them also.

    That being said, you might want to do the following instead: (Don't waste time, ask other people to do this)

    1) Email and/or call the relevant departments (Education, Home, Health, KEA) and express your grievances in DETAIL to maximum number of officials as possible. Email as much as possible (and ministers ifp) (Ask others todo it) All methods of commuication.

    2) Don't spend much time on Social Media and spamming minister's profile won't be of much use unless you can make the concern TRENDING and involve more helpful people.

    3) Contact Parents associations, student unions, lawyers, High influencers, Media, activists etc. Contact those people who are helpful and REPLY to you
    You (other people ) need to make connections and network. Strength lies in UNITY

    4) Know your rights - Right to Safety, Right to information etc File pettions or PILs

    5) Don't involve in politics. If opposition supports then it is good but I can't say whether it is helpful or harmful. Sometimes, it can backfire.

    6)You have to do smart work and hard work for anything. Maximum pressure in this case.

    7) Apply maximum pressure before admit card/confirmation comes. Time is important (Imp)

    8) Mental Health matters (Anxiety, Depression, concentration issues etc) IMP
    ( I have more points but this is suffecient I assume)
