Mangaluru: District Youth Congress president Mithun Rai tests positive for coronavirus

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Jul 17: Dakshina Kannada district Youth Congress president Mithun Rai revealed on Friday July 17 that he has tested positive for coronavirus.

In a tweet he said, “I have been tested COVID19 positive & I am under Quarantine at Bangalore. With all your love and blessings, I will recover and be back soon at your service.

“My request to all those who were in close proximity with me in the last few days, kindly get yourselves checked for COVID,” he stated in the tweet.

It may be recalled, a number of politicians including Mangaluru North MLA Dr Bharath Shetty had tested positive. The MLA, who has now recovered, advised people never to lose heart after getting infected with the coronavirus. "It does not harm 98 per cent of the people. The secret lies in remaining positive and staying mentally strong,” he said.

What is special in it if a politician or a celebrity tests positive ? Are they different in anyway in comparison with a common man? Corona doesn't see if he is a politician, celebrity or a common man. So stop highlighting individual cases and treat all equally. Some posts in social media are giving an impression that Amitab Bachhan cured of Corona Virus because of prayers . If so, why can't make prayers so the whole of mankind can be cured? The myths associated with Corona are more dangerous than the virus itself.

I am not an expert. Most of the corona positive patients do not have symptoms and do not require any treatment (90%) neither at home nor hospitalization.Few ,who have other illnesses require treatment for the comorbidities like diabetes, heart, neuro, kidney, liver, obesity, pneumonia etc. Such patients require hospitalization.
Those who do not have other illnesses may have fever and may require paracetamol (after asking family doctor) , those having breathing difficulties in past (e.g. asthma or any lung problem like TB, pneumonia) may require bronchodilators-available as tab, syrup or pump) which they can keep ready at home and take after consulting family doctor. Those having lung problem in past should keep a pulse oximeter at home(costs around Rs.1000), operates on battery and easily readable oxygen saturation and pulse rate.If the oxygen saturation falls below 95 one has to be on alert and if it falls below 90 immediate hospitalization is required.(sometimes there is no breathing difficulty at less than 90 oxygen saturation but it is a bad sign and is called " happy hypoxia".) The serious cases are less than 1% .From your earlier posts it looks you are worried ,so I always say Be Happy Be Healthy. When you are happy our body secretes Endorphins which help in fighting the virus!!

I'm no expert but a Corona patient doesn't just die as soon as he gets the disease. If he's infected and healthy without any health complications he's 90% likely to survive. BUT
