Belagavi: Hesitant villagers - Wife, son compelled to perform man's funeral

Belagavi, Jul 18: As relatives and close ones dithered from getting involved with the funeral of a person, his wife and son were forced to keep the body on a pushcart and take the body to the outskirts of the town for the funeral. The people were fearful of contracting coronavirus infection if they came in contact with the body. The incident happened on Friday July 17.

Sadashiva Hiratti (55), resident of Athani in the district, was suffering from ill health for a month. He breathed his last on Wednesday but the family members could not perform the funeral as no one came forward to help them.

After considering different options, the wife and son of the deceased placed the body on a pushcart and transported the body to the outskirts of town where the funeral was performed.

It is learnt that no coronavirus test was conducted on the body and it was not confirmed whether Hiratti had corona infection or not.

    Irony ! these hypocrites will bring people from our three neighboring countries and give them citizenship, but will not help a neighbor who lived beside them all these years to cremate a dead body!!!!

    Handling of complete COVID-19 SITUATION IN INDIA is totally flopped and failed.

    Central Govt. as well as State Govt. are utterly failed.

    India's illiteracy rate is rising high faster than the GDP as soon the British left India , wish India was ruled by British another 50 years , we should have got Better education, better hospitals, better community center, better railways , better laws and equality and made Indian 1 rs is equal to 1 us Dollar

    Suhail ??? Is this your own name ?? Look at the neighbours at East and West of India, man, and tell the readers - is India at a better position, or worse ?

    Now, the British did not live in India to help Indians. Good that the forward thinking leaders of those times got together and fought, fought till the British to fed up and fled. Else, still our raw material would have been shipped to UK and they would have been the most rich country in India because of their finished product exported to world over.

    Besides, if India had been under RSS backed party since 1947 (not a neutral Congress), you should forget how Hindu/Muslim/Isai lived cordially for 70 years. Rather, India could have been torn into three or four pieces already. If you have any doubt, tell me - I'll give you examples to specify my point. Well, the process has started 2014 onwards, you keep watching.
