Mangaluru: Kinnigoli youth drowns at Kuwait beach while trying to rescue stranger

Mangaluru, Jul 19: In a tragic incident that occurred in Kuwait, a native of Kinnigoli near here lost his life while trying to save the life of a drowning stranger at a beach.

The deceased has been identified as Mohammed Anees (28) at Salmiya.

The incident took place at around 8.30 pm on Saturday, July 18.

It is learnt that Anees had been to the Salmiya beach along with his friends. He saw an Egyptian national getting washed away by the waves while swimming, and rushed to rescue him. In the process Anees was swept away and drowned.

His body was found on the morning of Sunday, July 19. Kuwait navy and coastguard were involved in the operation of searching the body.

The family of Anees has decided to conduct his funeral in Kuwait itself.
