Byndoor, Jul 20: Students living in the neighbourhood of Shirur here, who belong to Uttara Kannada district, are facing lot of problems as they are unable to travel for registering their names for examinations and other emergency work as the district border has been sealed.

Students from hamlets like Gorti, Belake, Sarpanakatte etc go to Shirur and Byndoor to attend PU and degree classes. The PU result is already out. The students who feel they should have got more marks have to apply for revaluation and the failed students have to visit the colleges and remit money before July 31. But because vehicle movement has been restrained at the district border, the PU students are unable to visit their educational institutions.

Since the last two days, even two-wheelers are not allowed entry into Udupi district at Shirur tollgate. The district administration has set up a check post near the tollgate. Fifteen houses which fall under the limits of Shirur gram panchayat are located on the other side of this gate. These families have to visit Shirur for their daily needs, banks, schools, societies etc. But they are facing problems as even Shirur villagers are not allowed to pass this gate. The people wish that the officials realise the practical difficulties of the people and help them instead of rigidly getting mired in legal wrangles.
