Bengaluru: PM Modi to talk to Yediyurappa - Decision on lockdown likely

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jul 20: Coronavirus situation in Karnataka is deteriorating after the state initially registered good control over the disease. The number of corona positive cases has been going up even after measures like lockdown were enforced. The state, which looked set to become a model state, has now been slipping and on the verge of earning the dubious distinction of being a corona hotspot.

Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi is likely to discuss the coronavirus situation with Yediyurappa on Monday or Tuesday. It is said that discussions may also be held on the desirability of using lockdown again as a means to achieve control over the pandemic.

The Prime Minister had called the chief ministers of Bihar, Telangana, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Assam and Uttarakhand over phone to consult the corona situation in these states. He also held discussions with the chief minister of Assam that is facing a deluge due to floods, about the relief works to be undertaken. As Bihar too has witnessed some floods, he discussed about the flood and corona situation with chief minister Nitish Kumar, it is said.

The PM, in addition to other points, also touched the subject of the desirability of using lockdown as a means to control the spread of the disease. They have been asked to decide and inform in writing within three days about their opinion on lockdown, it is learnt.

As a continuation of the above, the PM will hold discussions with the chief ministers of other states on Monday or Tuesday. The main focus will be on whether to resort to lockdown again or not to bring coronavirus infection that is racing ahead, under control.

London: An experimental COVID-19 vaccine, being developed by the University of Oxford, was safe and produced an immune response in early-stage clinical trials in healthy volunteers, data showed on Monday.
The vaccine, called AZD1222 and being developed by pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca and scientists at Britain's University of Oxford, did not prompt any serious side effects and elicited antibody and T-cell immune responses, according to trial results published in The Lancet medical journal.

"We hope this means the immune system will remember the virus, so that our vaccine will protect people for an extended period," study lead author Andrew Pollard of the University of Oxford said.

There are many cases where, even young people, inspire of staying indoors & taking all precautions have contracted the infection; also many COVID19 docs despite taking full protection have got CORONA!
It should be clear by now that what is working on the West cannot be emulated here because of obvious reasons! WHO predictions have miserably failed! Since the economy has already reached depression, a well balanced & pragmatic decision needs to be taken; it has reached a threshold point now! Any extension of lockdown will have deleterious effects on the already rock bottom hit economy!
Since mortality is just 2.5%, much more people are dying of road accidents, TB, cancer, heart attacks, lifestyle diseases etc.; also majority of the people are mentally half dead when they get a positive result due to extreme phobia created by media and tested interests!
Now is the time to shun politics & take a pragmatic, scientific & rational decision taking the bigger picture into consideration!
As of now, the entire process of curbing infection seems to have been botched up by irrational & pseudoscientific decisions!
The above is a very personal opinion based on my knowledge and information and not an advice of any sort!!

The Karnataka BJP governance is only good in 'Operation Kamala' and 'resort politics' which became new pandemic for India and dangerous to the democracy. The party can arrange free five star hotel stay for dissident MLA's of winning parties but has no funds for health care system. In other hand Bellary Reddy clan who arrange Rs500 crores wedding is now hoping for 'God' to intervene.

The 'PM Care' doesn't seem to be caring for India. The number of coronavirus cases has crossed 10 lakh. China has forcefully encroached India's border but instead of serving the country, Modi government is fulfilling its lust of power in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh bye elections and Bihar upcoming state elections.

The Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has even twitted "The Corona Virus is an extremely serious threat to our people and our economy. My sense is the government is not taking this threat seriously. Timely action is critical." -2:16 AM · Feb 12, 2020.

If the action was taken way back in February, the nation would not had seen the increasing death rates. Instead of timely action PM Modi asked the nation follow taali, thaali, diya Jalao and mombatti.

The Karnataka being one of the top five states pay highest taxes has failed to manage the crisis. The party has indispensable funds for 'Operation Kamala' but no money for health care system in worst crisis.

    Jai Hind!

I don’t know and wonder when this saga will end. Outer economy is more of a concern now , Covid 19 isn’t a deadly disease as predicted by the WHO that by March 2020 3 million Indians would still die if the lockdown was implemented.
We still follow those liars. Why? Can’t the ministers calculate the death rate with a percentage. Daily 1300 people die of TB, Daily 1000 die of heart attacks etc. Why isn’t the media not portraying this? Lockdown will really create a way for a civil war soon. 122 million Indians have lost their jobs. The government should open their eyes and not allow foreign countries to have a say in India. We can ourselves have an Health organisation instead of depending on this World Horror Organisation

Centre is not providing neither in finance nor in Medicare or safty materials.... centre is only forcing states to control...
And centre is only spending money on flopping the elected government buying MLA s and MPs.. and spending on election speeches and broadcasting fake news with thr help of pay media and pay bhakts..

Let prime minister release money for hospitals and infrastructure and supply medicine staff and requirements of affected people. The clapping hands and burning candles no effects we have increased positive patients and increased death and no ambulance or medical facilities.the talk may concentrated to the supply of basic requirements. At the beginning life is more important was told but Life is miserable with increased death and fear. No promises required now action is required as many are in their death bed. Provide proper requirement to all medical and non medical staff and protect them. Don't send diseases to other places so as to spread all directions. This is what is done at present asking people to go to native place with out tests.

Anywhere lock down is not necessary. The news channels should stop broadcasting 24 x 7 Covid 19 commentary and start broadcasting 24 x 7 basis simple precautions general public to take like compulsory wearing mask, maintaining minimum distance, washing hands regularly, unnecessary roaming around in places and eating healthy food. If this is followed by each and every individuals then no need of thali bajao, lighting lamps, claps etc.. corona will go away of its own. What is use of one day, one week lock down if the minimum requirement is not followed by individuals.

Exactly right sir. News channels should stop speaking only on the deaths caused due to corona and start talking about the safety measures that one needs to take. If every news house does this people will be more educated and there'll be less fear among people getting the economy back on track.
District wise lockdowns cause more damage to the economy than a complete nation wide lockdown only due to uncertainty. Until people don't act responsibly, lockdowns will in no way help curb the spread.

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

"Bengaluru, Jul 19: Home minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday July 19 asserted that the week-long lockdown in Bengaluru and some other parts of the state will not be extended any further.

"A week of lockdown is already under way in the capital in order to contain the fast-spreading coronavirus pandemic. However, the lockdown is going to end on Tuesday, July 21. The lockdown will not be extended after Tuesday under any circumstances," Bommai said."

The administration is taking the common man for a Royal ride! You have started public transport, malls, hotels, social gatherings, religious places; and in between fishing was also given special permission & at the same time issuing haphazard lockdowns as per whims & fancies of various ministers; has anybody heard of one day lockdowns?; in such a situation what's the use of another lockdown? The migrants fiasco contributed to the spread of infection in remote rural areas!
We cannot extrapolate advanced & thinly populated country's protocols to a densely populated, poor, ignorant country!!

Now, IMHO, lockdown will be counterproductive in all ways; it will start killing people by suicides, hunger, other infectious & lifestyle diseases! Unnecessary hype has been created by media which has made common man paranoid; the mortality rate being only 2.5%!
Now our only savior is herd immunity!

The above is only a very personal opinion & not an advice of any sort!

Coronavirus playing hell in twin districts. Now people should be very careful not to go outside unless & until it is very necessary to save themselves & their peers from CORONA. Moreover, already there is shortage of beds in hospitals. Don't think it is a joke. Even there is no LOCKDOWN also, you yourself Lock yourself to save from this pandemic. This is getting very serious . There is possibility that people should be treated in their homes if it goes worst. Try to keep away from cold & respiratory illness by drinking Hot coffee morning & evening. Don't take cold things. Most importantly do everything to stop CORONAVIRUS enter your windpipe. GOOD LUCK !

There is a huge difference between relaxing lockdown partially and completely.
Need of the hour is lift lockdown only partially in city like bengaluru, mangalore etc..

Industrial activities should go on with 50% work force..
