Mangaluru: Sea erosion continues in Ullal, road caves in

Mangaluru, Jul 21: Even though the rainfall in the state was considerably less on Monday July 20, sea erosion worsened in the coast.

The beach road at Uchila, Ullal was completely washed away due to increased sea erosion. Road connectivity to over 20 houses there has been severed. Things inside a house that is facing grave danger have been shifted.

Sea erosion caused by disturbances at sea has increased in Ullal Kaiko, Killeria Nagar, Sea Ground, Someshwar temple, Uchila, New Uchila, and Battappady etc.

Rainfall on Monday was far less, with an average of one cm in the coast. Places like the city, Sullia, Kollur and other places received some rain. Sunshine was bright for most part of the day.

The meteorological department has predicted good rainfall in the coast and some place in interior Karnataka. It has predicted that the sea will remain tumultuous and advised fishermen against entering the sea. This prediction is valid till Wednesday morning.

    From the Picture, it is clear that road is just laid upon sand. The people living near that road need strong heart.

    Authorities need to immediately shift them before taking further measures. Authorities also mark area not suitable for habitat. Sea erosion is not the mistake of any govt.

    True, Had they used tetrapodes few years back or at least last year this road could have been saved. They have no choice got to build the road for coastal patrols.
