Dubai, Jul 21: Dubai is all set to open the first Chinese national curriculum school this September. The school will offer full-time KG-12 education and it will be the first of its kind outside China. The focus is upon serving the Chinese community residing in the emirates. Once fully operational, additionally 2000 seats would be created in the private education sector.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday, July 21, apart from the regular Chinese curriculum, the students will be offered Islamic studies, moral education, and UAE studies based on the UAE curriculum. Arabic will be offered as a second language.
The school will also accept foreign students.
Dr Abdulah Al Karam, chairman of the Board of Directors and Director-General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) said, "China and the UAE have had a long-standing friendship, and there's no better symbol for that friendship than a school. The Chinese School Dubai will be the heart of the Chinese community in Dubai and foster a rich exchange of teaching and learning opportunities with other schools in Dubai."
He said that it was an honour to have the first Chinese curriculum school outside China in Dubai.
