Mangaluru: ‘Decision on extension of lockdown in DK after discussion with CM’ – Kota Poojary

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (EP)

Mangaluru, Jul 21: “There is a possibility of extending the current lockdown that ends at 5 am on July 23 after substantial increase in coronavirus cases in Dakshina Kannada district. In the circumstances, a decision in this connection will be taken by Wednesday,” said district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary.

“The matter will be discussed with officials and elected representatives in the district on Tuesday evening, July 21 and a decision on lockdown will be taken after speaking to the chief minister (CM) on Wednesday.

Kota Srinivas Poojary

“On one side we hear that lockdown is not the only solution to prevent the spread of coronavirus. On the other side, elected representatives and people are urging to extend the lockdown for another 14 days,” he said.

“As there is no decrease in the number of cases even after seven days of lockdown, a decision on extending lockdown will be taken after necessary discussions,” said the minister.

Who are the representatives? Where are they--utterly NONSENCE. Those who wish to live they will maintain social distance, wearing masks and washing hand/sanitization. How long lock down? How many months more? Where is the patience? We have to do lot of jobs, we have to live and not die every day. Those who have immunity nothing will happen, those who have no decease nothing will happen, but those who are sick, the entire family have to take extra precaution.

Sir, does it really make sense to have lockdown, naming it a strict lockdown and letting all shops to be open for 3 hours. Cant people keep things at home for a week and cant there be a genuine strict lockdown. You people want all shops open meanwhile u also want people to remain indoors.. what do u really want to show off here.. let there be a lockdown for 2 more weeks. And do u expect immediate downfall in number of cases because a week of half lockdown where people are roaming for the whole day..

Opening market from 8 to 11 is more dangerous than keeping it open throughout the day. For example banks open at 10 am , there is rush inside the premise for first 1 hour. People dont follow social distancing due to more than usual turnout at the place. Opening the market just for three hours will lead to accumulation of people during these hours. Rather opening essential shops to throughout the day seems apractical solution to follow social distancing norms.

    Dear Raj ,
You are living in a fairyland and i am sure you are watching a lot of fictional programs on TV and OTT. To your knowledge vaccine is not that you produce overnight , it has its pro's and con's. Be realistic , understand the current situation," if you are mathematical " .

Please extend the lockdown. But it's should be a strict lockdown . As a health care worker I pray atleast by strict lockdown will be able to break the chain of infection and reduce the cases of COVID in hospitals.

you maybe having stocked income and no issues with income, but its not same for all. Instead if people like you who will stay only in if locked down else roam around should think and understand practically about everyone who are hell suffering with this loss of jobs and loss in business. 'Lock down is not the solution , its just the only step if you cant control and take necessary measures. if KOTA is not capable of taking certain measures to make sure people dont roam unnecessarily and increase in hospital beds ,lockdown is not necessary. KOTA think wise

Chances of dying in a road accident, TB infection, CA, infectious diseases, malnutrition, lifestyle diseases is much more than CORONA; unnecessary phobia has been created by media and vested interests!

Lockdown, social distancing is not practically possible in a densely populated country like India, because of obvious reasons! Also using of masks has a strict procedure or it becomes counterproductive; think how many people in this country are scientifically knowledgeable on how to use a mask gainfully! When the situation has come to sleeping hungry for 2/3rds of the poor population how can you expect them to have proper individual masks?

Money has been minted by medical accessory suppliers, put hospitals & corrupt officials at the cost of common man!

It's evident now that COVID19 is an airborne infection too by the fact that it has attacked the most rich and powerful families in the world too then whom do you think it'll spare?
Lockdown is being insisted by the rich & those getting salaries on time, pensioners, corrupt officials etc., whereas common man and MSMEs/hotel businesses are nearly finished! Daily wage workers are not able to buy food as they have been pushed to beggar status! Once loan moratorium is over, lenders will hound debtors who will have no other option than suicide!
Terrified migrants have again rushed back to their native places!
It's high time we restart our economy!
SOCIOECONOMIC EFFECTS OF CORONA CONUNDRUM WILL BE VERY VERY PAINFUL AND PROLONGED!!

Whichever elected representatives or government functionaries are in favour of an extended lockdown should provide financial support to all those people who are forced to sit at home during lockdown and forego their daily earnings. People are under severe mental and financial stress because of frequent lockdowns with no economic support whatsoever. How long are we going to play hide-and-seek with coronavirus? Lockdown will only delay the duration that coronavirus remains with us, but will not eliminate it. Common guys, be practical, people will start dying of mental stress and hunger rather than by coronavirus infection if this lockdown situation continues.

First make a thorough survey and find out whether death rate is increasing because of Corona infection or for not getting treatment for other health related problems on time. More and more people will die not because of this virus but for Lockdown related issues. Ground reality is Nothing will change even after a extended lockdown period.!

In many countries people get pay cheques for sitting at home.If DK administration , people who are in favor of lockdown and elected representatives provide pay cheques to people for sitting at home, nobody will oppose lockdown even if it is for 2 years.

Rightly pointed the illogical wish of our elected members who are not scientists or qualified epidemiologists they are representing the people who are scared & in panic state whose mindset is not in the state to decide which is right or wrong in the long run.
The epidemic has lost its Pandemic tag with new data coming from all the countries, it is better to place our own protocol in future & not cling on to umbilical chord of WHO which is market agent of Vaccine industry at best whatever lure they offer us to follow their directive like loans & assistance which push our country further into debt burden & at their mercy like Greece & some Latin American countries.
Let us follow Tanzania & Madgaskar examples, they defied WHO & are doing fine with no lock downs no restrictions, with schools open, international airflights coming in & out & no false scare of uncontrolled infections.

Feel that all the lockdown practised is simply a waste. For proper results the administration should have tried 100% lockdown at least for 10 days without even opening a single shop except medical stores. Any tom dick n harry can survive for 10 days with some necessary provision kept in stock. Don't know what was the necessity for the shops to be kept open in the morning. Even cops are also fed up convincing people, how long they should keep begging, don't they have to be bothered about their own safety.
    Very strange decision

Mostly the Tom, Dick and Harry you mention are bachelors/spinsters who survive on Maggi/ParleG bikkis. Definitely not Infants, Toddlers or Senior Citizens or people with disabilities or other mobility issues. All the best for such selfish directions, we just need another keyboard warrior.

Bhandumaam ultimately these intelligent administration under great leadership has come to the conclusion that lockdown jhumla at cost of economy was totally wrong!

In their ignorance, they have screwed up the entire economy & pulled the country behind by 20 years! The entire planning & execution of Corona control was botched up, thanks to their knowledge & wisdom, this has never happened before in independent India! Common man is left now with empty hands & begging bowls!

    Jai ho!

Its been 5 months into this pandemic and lockdown at this stage is pure incompetence of the administration. Will lockdown help ? Certainly not, infact it will make matters worse . Majority of the peope are from lower income group who have no or little saving, how do they survive ? Mental stress is also a disease, how will u treat it ? Its easy for the few to say lockdown is necessary, because they are paranoid and they have money and luxury. Right education on the disease is important . All death is not covid19 death. There is a difference between dying WITH covid 19 and dying FROM covid19. All death so far is dying WITH covid19. Lets not push panic utton and be brave to face the virus, let the economic activity happen for the common people to survive. LOCKDOWN NOW IS NOT THE ANSWER IF IMPOSED ITS A SIGN OF LOSING HOPE.

What can be achieved by a 7 or 10 days Lockdown- The House is already set ablaze.. A "Sincere Lockdown" of 30 days may prove fruitful- even this isn't guaranteed.. Once lifted, these infections would continue and hence Lockdown is never a Long-term Solution .. Many sectors are losing revenue and these 7-10 days lockdown are only a nuisance..

THERE IS NO USE OF LOCKDOWN .BECAUSE DUE TO OPENING OF MARKET FROM 8 TO 11, PEOPLE GATHERUNG IS INCREASING IN MARKET.THERE IS NO STRICT LOCKDOWN. IF THE LOCKDOWN IS VERY STRICT THEN IT IS USEFUL.AND TESTS SHOULD BE DONE MORE AND MORE.

The other option to contain is to test and trace which the govt/adm has clearly not been able to do. Now by using unreliable antigen test there is bound to be a bigger mess.
