Simmons is Daredevils' Assistant Coach


New Delhi, March 4 (IANS) India bowling coach Eric Simmons has been appointed Delhi Daredevils' assistant coach ahead of the third edition of Indian Premier League (IPL), beginning March 12.

Simmons, who will be assisting chief coach Greg Shipperd, will join the squad Monday.

"Simmons' experience will help the youngsters in the side," said Amrit Mathur, chief operating officer of the Delhi Daredevils.

Simmons, a former South Africa coach, said he is looking forward to working with the Daredevils.

"I have heard a lot about the Daredevils and I have also seen some of them at close quarters while working with the Indian team. It will be a great experience to work with them," said Simmons.

Simmons, 47, was appointed bowling consultant of the Indian team for the Test series against Bangladesh and the Test and ODI series against South Africa.
