Bengaluru, Jul 23: Former Karnataka chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy, said that a plot to unseat the coalition government in the state headed by him had been hatched by a section of Congress leaders backed by efforts of the BJP. He was interacting with party workers in Facebook Live programme arranged on the occasion of a year of the coalition government's downfall.

"It was very difficult to run the government. I was unable to protect the interests of my party workers. Therefore, at a programme held within a month since we rose to power, I had to shed tears. Even though I was the chief minister, even for minor things, I had to wait for the nod of Congress leaders and legislators. Even in the matter of nominating people to boards and corporations, we were made to pick positions which were left over by them after choosing the best ones," he explained.

The former CM recalled that a class of the Congress leaders, since the very beginning of the formation of the coalition government, kept spreading the notion that it will not last long. "They created obstacles in my way, and I am ready for open debate on the problems they created for the coalition government," he added. "Some Congress leaders who joined hands with the efforts to unseat me are now repenting. They thought the BJP would get mired in scams within six months and sacrifice power. But now they have realised that the BJP is not ready to give up power at any cost," he explained.

He charged the current government for failing to address the issues of coronavirus infection and floods. He said that the BJP which came to power by projecting his government as incapable has now faced a crisis of its own. He therefore said that the regional parties have to rise to power on their own to tackle these problems.
