They should drop plans for four laning of the highway immediately. The highway has been widened from Belwai to Kudremukh and its more than sufficient to take care of the traffic. The main highway I'd NH66 (formerly 17) and most of the heavy traffic is on that highway. They should start widening the road from Belwai to Mangalore. Now that Gurupur bridge is complete and the way the road is widened at both sides of the bridge it looks great and easy for motoring. Rest of the road should also be widened in the same manner. Government is short of funds and due to that the four laning work should be dropped.

Every year the roads are repaired just before the onset of monsoon in Mangalore but only to develop dangerous potholes within a month.

Thereafter it is a long waiting period for the monsoons to be over, fix a contractor and finish other formalities for the next repairs to begin.

The repair jobs are so poor that they dont last even a month. I wonder what is the motive behind this poor repairs and the money spent. The government boasts of building 30km of roads every day on an average but it cannot built roads that can survive monsoons and the traffic.

it seems you are not living in India or at least Karnataka and Mangalore. Probably you think that you are a citizen of some scandinavian country, where corruption is unheard of.

This is all common in our country, that too in Karnataka and Mangaluru is the most corrupted place after Bengaluru in our state. Right from the peon of MCC to the top most officer of any govt dept in Mangaluru are totally corrupt.

So that is why you will see potholes on the roads and road repair works just before monsoon.

Enjoy life Sir as it comes. If we start questioning things, especially when the Bacchali Janara Party is in power, we will be called anti-nationals.

    Nalinji,

Please consider the roads adjacent to Pumpwell Bridge too. There are potholes as deep as a foot. To avoid falling into them, drivers attempt a quick turn and hit other vehicles in the attempt.
