Gadag: Farmer's cost effective plan saves crops from deer menace

Daijiworld Media Network - Gadag (SP)

Gadag, Jul 24: Deer have been destroying crops grown by farmers in this district. The deer which come to their fields in droves eat up their crops. One of the farmers, frustrated by this problem, has invented a new plan that has succeeded in keeping the deer at bay.

All these years, the farmers were finding it hard to save the crops raised by them. Somu Shirol, a young farmer from Abbigeri village, has given them a ray of hope. He has created the simple machine which even the forest department was unable to invent. The deer have stayed away from the fields where these machines have been installed.

Somu used wings of a table fan which was out of order, axle of the front wheel of a bicycle, fit a pipe across them, and tied them together with the help of two small chains. He also has fixed a small steel plate next to it. The entire machine has cost him Rs 300. This machine is kept in the field. When the fan wings begin to rotate on account of wind, the two chains fixed to the plate begin to hit the plate and make a big sound. The deer are afraid of this noise and therefore keep themselves away from such fields.

Many other farmers, who have watched the success of this machine, now plan to install similar machines in their fields.

Though “Humam” sounds a bit condescending, there is lot of scope for Somu Shirad. His invention, or improvisation, focused in Daijiworld, has great potential and should be recognized and awarded by Karnataka Government without waiting for the beaurocratic and procrastinating route to award an higher class recognition with decent cash attached.
The next thing for the State agricultural department and related bodies at the Centre to work on the way shown .
I hope that the Corona-19 is not used as an excuse for no-action end-game.

Some engineers required to make this sound effect consistent..
I mean, when there is no wind , it should make consistent sound using wind energy earlier produced...
    Can you do that?

    wind energy excellent 👍

I think there is a way to convert this wind energy into a constant energy (using free energy generator small device) which can be utilized to make sound at regular intervals. Good invention..
