Vice President Venkaiah Naidu lauds Udupi ASHA worker

Udupi, Jul 25: Venkaiah Naidu, the Vice President of India, has lauded the effort of ASHA worker Rajeevi, who drove the auto rickshaw herself at 3 am and got a pregnant woman admitted to the hospital.

Tweeting about the incident, Naidu said, "The work of Asha worker Rajeevi, who got the pregnant woman admitted to the hospital at 3 am is commendable."

Srilatha, a resident of Pernankila had called Rajeevi at 3 am and said that she is having labour pain. Rajeevi responded to the distress call of Srilatha immediately and drove the pregnant woman in her auto and got her admitted to Udupi government hospital for women and children, which is at a distance of 20 km. Srilatha gave birth to a baby boy. Both the mother and child are healthy.

"I learnt driving auto rickshaw from my husband. Now it has become profession for me. I have got many people admitted to hospital earlier also. I do not taken auto fare for pregnant women if they are going to the hospital for delivery," said Rajeevi.

Bus service is very sparse in Pernankila area. Rajeevi's auto service helps women of the area to reach their homes safely especially after dark. She works as an Asha worker from morning till afternoon and then works as an auto driver till night.

    We all indeed need to thank ALL Asha workers who have done extremely great jobs during this pandemic. This is a fantastic team/unit created by government of India which benefits the people of India lives in every corner. Government should invest more on this unit to educate/train them further, improve their packages, bonus etc etc....
    Once again let us congratulate ALL the Asha workers. They are truly dedicated for the welfare of the people and let us cooperate with them whenever they reach to your our doorstep.

    people like Rajeevi are the great unsung heroic personalities of our country... despite being a lady, she is offering any time service to carry women in labour pain to hospitals... she is doing this irrespective of whether politicians / govt is "praising" or not... instead of showering praise which starts in twitter and ends in twitter, this man could have called her to Delhi for a personal felicitation or some concrete reward, not empty words... all including a person on street will appreciate Ms Rajivi..Being a man in power, it is expected that there will be some thing more than words...through this wordy tweet, glory of this lady is "used" for self-publicity of the empty praiser...

    If only indian govt wakes up and stops poring our tax and temple hundi money appeasing with subsidy bhagya scheme for darthi ki bhoj types who are rich but privilleged.... instead must be used to support these genuine people. Alas, then the darthi bhoj will call govt as communal.. lol
