Kasargod: 43 including groom, bride, guests who attended wedding test positive for coronavirus

Kasargod, Jul 25: As many as 43 people who had taken part in a wedding programme in the 4th ward of Chengala panchayat on July 17 have tested positive for coronavirus. The infection was found after antigen tests. All those who took part in the programme will be in self-observation for 14 days. District collector (DC) Dr D Sajith Babu has asked those with symptoms to visit nearest primary health centres.

Legal action under Kerala Epidemic Diseases Ordinance 2020 will be taken against the person who held the wedding programme without observing Covid-19 regulations. The DC has directed police personnel to register a case which attracts two year imprisonment and Rs 10,000 fine for the accused. The DC has asked people to give up programmes where people gather as the pandemic is spreading at a fast pace.

The virus was detected in 105 people on Saturday. As many as 88 among them are infected due to contacts. Twenty-three people have recovered and been discharged. Infection is confirmed in 10 people who returned from abroad and seven who have arrived from other states.

Twenty cases were detected in Kumble, 11 in Mangalpady, seven in Kanhangad, six each in Badiadka, Uduma and Belloor gram panchayat limits on Saturday.

A total of 1,331 people are infected in the district so far. As many as 719 people among them have recovered and been discharged from hospitals and 608 are under treatment.

    Instead of all this mess they should have taken cautions to prevent corona.Guests who come for wedding inclusive bride and groom should have tested for corona before come in.fever test or something etc.Why cry now?The permission doesnt prevent .Now see that it doesnt spread further.Marraige was not a urgent matter.should have taken caution.Even during ceremony masks should have worn or take care properly too.Not all are with mask familiar.

    Postpone marriages for next year instead of taking risk and getting into legal prosecution. Of course Politicians comes under exempted category.
