500 Fresh Applications Seek Compensation to Endosulfan Victims : Vasanth Bangera

Belthangady, March 7 (DHNS) : MLA K Vasanth Bangera said a total of 500 fresh applications have been received seeking compensation for the reported effects of endosulfan.

Talking to reporters after receiving applications from the members of the public at Kokkada near here on Sunday, he said deserving people can still apply for the compensation.

He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and District-in-Charge Minister J Krishna Palemar for meeting the endosulfan victims in Kokkada recently and distributing compensation cheques. “There are discrepancies in the previous list as per which compensation has been distributed.

Deserving people and poor have experienced injustice as the workers of a particular political party and the Endosulfan Victims’ Struggle Committee leaders misguided the officials and the physicians,” he said.  “I have brought the issue to the notice of the Chief Minister. He has given one more opportunity for the deserving people to seek compensation.

The application will be sent to the concerned through the Deputy Commissioner,” he promised. He said arrangements would be done to hold a camp of officials and medical experts to provide necessary certificates to the applicants. Sufficient publicity will be given prior to the camp so that the villagers can be aware of the things,” the MLA said. Kokkada Gram Panchayat President B K Radha, former president Sebastian, Vishwanath Kollaje were present.
