Kundapur: Gangolli main road in deplorable state, cries for attention

Daijiworld Media Network - Kundapur (SP)

Kundapur, Jul 27: Gangolli happens to house an important fishing port in Udupi district. The main road here is dotted with pits and potholes and as a result, movement of pedestrians and vehicles has been adversely affected.

The stretch of the road from Gangolli gram panchayat office to the port, bus stand and the water tank has been thoroughly damaged. As there is no proper arrangement for the water to drain away during the rainy session, water gets accumulated on the roads. Vehicle riders, therefore, fail to gauge the existence of potholes. They often fall down and suffer injuries or ditch efforts to avoid potholes. But even then accidents do occur. Therefore, the locals have urged for the proper arrangement of the water to flow away.

A sum of Rs 1.47 crore has been sanctioned for the concreting work of the main road. Because of lockdown restrictions, the work has been delayed. Under the current situation, using the main road at Gangolli has become very difficult and risky. The citizens have urged the authorities to repair the road by filling the holes. The main road is set to witness the increased movement of people and vehicles shortly as mechanized fishing will resume and educational institutions might start functioning soon.

Therefore, the people have demanded that the potholes on the main road are repaired soon and the road repair work be undertaken at the earliest.

Gangolli Nagarika Horata Samiti president Chikkayya Poojary has demanded to repair the main road at the earliest so that the people can make use of the road till concretizing work is taken up. PWD engineer at Kundapur, Raghavendra Naik, said that work on road concretizing will begin as soon as the rainy season comes to an end.

When I reached Dubai the road was only single road with 2 lane one coming and one for going traffic. Than it become 4 lanes and now it is 12 lanes. I asked my brother in law.... why can't they did not do it earlier.... he replied me they want to spend money stage by stage. If they finish during initial stage what work will remain.
This road work is awarded to the contractor who will give more corruption to our leaders. If the road constricted without guarantee than they can punish the contractor but they will again give contract to the same contractor as he will pay them more corruption.
    Public money loot and divide.

Feel very sad to see deplorable condition of the main road of Gangulli. It is in same condition as of my school days during 70s. No change. The stretch
Port and panchayat office with no drainage facility is really pathetic. Every year we hear the same statements from panchayat office but without any result.

The plight we can witness in every cities, towns, villages of states across the country. Sad part under such cases is that no recognized organization bother toattempt stage protest over the concerns unlike the protests they usually organized over tiny issues to achieve political agenda.
