New Delhi, Jul 28 (IANS): The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has allotted land for another Kendriya Vidyalaya in northeast Delhi's Khajuri Khas area, a demand being raised for years. The allotment of land by the DDA for the third Kendriya Vidyalaya school in last six years has fulfilled the demands of the people of the parliamentary constituency.
The land measuring 7,368 square meter was allotted to the Kendriya Vidyalaya on July 22 for Senior Secondary school in Delhi's northeast parliamentary constituency.
The decision was taken on the request of BJP's northeast Delhi Lok Sabha MP Manoj Tiwari, who has raised the demand with then Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani in 2017. Tiwari has also demanded for another Kendriya Vidyalaya in Burari area of his parliamentary constituency in 2017 with Irani.
According to the BJP leaders, the land allotted to the Kendriya Vidyalaya was earlier meant for truck-bus workshop and shops. But as the bus-truck workshop project failed its land use was changed and allotted for the school on lease for 99 years. Meanwhile, the DDA officials also said that the land for the other Kendriya Vidyalaya has also been allotted in Burari area and all the paper work has been done.
Virender Sachdeva, BJP's good governance cell leader told IANS, "Since independence there were no Kendriya Vidyalaya in northeast Delhi. And it is for the first time that three schools are now coming up in the area which will benefit number of students."
