Puttur: Roads on state border in pathetic condition

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Jul 28: The Panchodi-Karnur-Galimukha interstate connecting road that passes through Karnataka and Kerala border through Nettanige Mudnoor village in this taluk is in a wretched state. The pathetic condition of the roads has made people's lives miserable here.

This happens to be the most important inter-state connecting road. Bitumen of the road has peeled off in many spots and loosened crushed stones have fallen by the roadside. The road has several potholes and damaged spots. In some places, the entire road is covered in slush. Night journey on this road is fraught with danger.

This is a very useful shortcut that connects Jalsoor-Kasargod road via Ishwaramangala and Karnur. Because of lockdown now, the road has been blocked at Galimukha on the Kerala border. Still, most of the people living in the border and people from Karnur depend heavily on this road. As the road has become unusable, the people are going through a lot of hardships.

People from Karnur and Galimukha have appealed to the concerned to evince some interest to get this road, on which people of the border depend on, as soon as possible. Shihab Neyyadka, a social worker, has urged the concerned to stop issuing promises and repair the road urgently. Anitha Hemanathi Shetty zilla panchayat member of Nettanige Mudnoor, says that a grant of Rs 40 lac has been released by Karnataka Road Development Corporation for the development of the road and that the works will be undertaken soon.

Local representative of this area is useless, I reside in this area since last 40years, non of the elected people interested to develop this area.

They want only votes at the time of elections, then they will vanish and forget the people.

Lots of appeasement to one community by all elected representatives is biggest issue of this locality.

Big Red stones and quarry mafia supported by local authorities is another issue., because of this roads are getting damaged very badly. Nobody has any time to look after the development of the area.

If there was no rampant corruption, we could have had better roads. One good thing we failed to learn from Britishers is-Building quality roads and bridges lasting 100 years. Current cost may be same or more....our side pockets are very big!
