Modi talks 'rashtra rakshaa' as 5 Rafale jets touch down in India

New Delhi, Jul 29 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted a video of the first set of Rafale aircraft landing on Indian soil with a Sanskrit phrase where he welcomed their arrival and connected it to "rashtra rakshaa" or national defence.

The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also retweeted it. Interestingly, the BJP had used the same Sanskrit phrase with an additional statement in English that read, "A Terror Free Resurgent India", in a tweet from its official handle last year in February when the Rafale purchase issue had created a massive political storm ahead of the 2019 general election. The party had also used the hashtag, 'For the first time', as a dig at previous governments, back then.

The Sanskrit phrase talks about "rashtra raksha" or national defence. If loosely translated, it means, "I don't see any 'punya', 'vrat' or 'yagya' like that of a nation's defence".

The first five of the 36 medium multi-role Rafale fighter jets being built by French aircraft manufacturer Dassault landed safely at the IAF airbase in Ambala on Wednesday afternoon. Significantly, the frontline IAF airbase is likely to be used in case of a conflict at the northern or the western borders.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said in a tweet, "The Birds have landed safely in Ambala."

Of the two squadrons of the Rafale fighters, one would be based in Ambala for the western borders with Pakistan, while the second squadron would be based at Hasimara in West Bengal. It will be dedicated for the China border where Indian and Chinese People's Liberation Army troops are engaged in a border standoff, which left 20 Indian and an unknown number of Chinese soldiers dead following a bloody clash on June 15.

As per Dr Swamy Rafale are the worst aircraft in the world, countries which had signed MoU for Rafale have scrapped the same after seeing their pathetic performance with Libya, Swamy had also warned of legal recourse had India gone ahead with the deal. May be after seeing Ambani connection, he chose to keep quiet. https://www.google.co.in/amp/s/m.rediff.com/amp/news/report/rafale-fighter-jet-deal-will-swamy-take-the-legal-road-now/20150411.htm

Rafael is equipped with an RBE2 passive electronically scanned radar developed by Thales which has look down and shoot down capability. The radar can track up to eight targets simultaneously & provide threat identification and prioritization.
In other words before the enemy realizes Rafael has bombed the target & returned safely ...

We need not spend so much money for all the sophisticated gadgets. We have Sukhoi, MIG and Jaguar to do all that. Cheaper the selling price higher the profit as long as the brand name is flashing outwardly who cares what is inside.

Sir- Enemy who is on war he will calculate all these capabilities and then wage war. Nowadays everything can be tracked with minimal investments. I think we should not boast having Rafale. What India paid from tax payers money RAFALE should perform as per the expectations and at least show some lesson to China as early as possible

Do you think China wasn't aware at all of India acquiring 5 Rafale fighter jets??????...... FYI, China invaded into our territory on June 05, 2020 and still is in but our Rafale deal was going on from UPA times. I doubt these aircrafts are even combat worthy and fitted with any defence and fighting technologies. Its only a money making deal and the usual monkey Ba'ath fooling people and playing with emotions to defend and hide sins.
