Mangalore: State Tourism Minister Inaugurates Kambala at Pilikula

Mangalore, Mar 13:The Netravati – Falguni Jodukare Kambala, jointly organized by Pilikula Nisargadhama Society, twin-districts Kambala Samiti and district administration, went under way at Pilikula on Saturday March 13. State tourism minister, G Janardan Reddy, inaugurated the Kambala. 88 pairs of buffalos are taking part in the Kambala. A large crowd was present to witness the Kambala.
“With the intention of promoting tourism in the state in general and the coastal districts in particular, heli tourism with the help of three helicopters, a hanging bridge in Sultan Battery, developmental works in Panambur beach and Pilikula are proposed, and the state government has released Rs 11 crore for these projects,” the minister said.
Speaking to the press persons after inaugurating several new projects at Dr Shivarama Karantha Biological Park in Pilikula, he said that heli tourism will be promoted in the state and the city, which will be the base station, will get three helicopters. Developmental works in Panambur beach and works in St Mary’s Malpe beach in Udupi district will be executed, by using the funds allotted, he said.
A total of Rs 11 crore has already been sanctioned to the coastal districts for the proposed works, including three crore rupees at Pilikula for sports activities as well as for setting up of a heritage village, he revealed, adding that a hanging bridge in Sultan battery to Tannirbavi will be constructed at a cost of five crore rupees.
Indian hotel management institutes will be established in the state, out of which, the city also will get one institution, and the district administration will have to identify five acres of land for this institution, he added and explained that a sum of Rs 257 crore has been allotted for tourism in the state budget, out of which, Rs 50 crore will be spent for the coastal Karnataka.
The minister inaugurated new projects in the park, including a hospital for the wildlife, post-mortem room, cobra breeding centre and an aquatic park. He also inaugurated cottages in Culture village and also participated in the inaugural programme of Pilikula Kambala.
