Udupi: ‘Independence Day to be celebrated with Covid-19 safety guidelines’ - DC G Jagadeesha

Udupi, Aug 5: Deputy commissioner (DC) G Jagadeesha informed that Independence Day programme will be held at Mahatma Gandhi stadium Ajjarakadu on August 15 under the Covid-19 guidelines of the government.

Jagadeesha presided over the meeting that was held in the zilla panchayat auditorium on Wednesday, August 5.

The DC instructed the concerned officials to depute personnel of health department to thermal screen the attendees of the programme at the entrance of the stadium as well as provide hand sanitizer. He also informed to maintain social distance while arranging chairs on the stage as well as on the ground for sitting of VIPs and other attendees. In addition, the DC also asked everyone attending the celebration to wear mask without fail.

Jagadeesha also instructed concerned officials to relay the programme live through webcasting, Facebook live and online to the general public and also to inform the public of the same well in advance.

The DC also informed concerned officials to felicitate the Covid warriors who have shown commendable achievement in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic. He also asked the officials to invited selected people, who have got cured from Covid-19 infection. Jagadeesha also asked to decorate all the government building with lighting on the occasion of Independence Day.

The DC also asked police, home guards, coastal protection force and forest department personnel to take part in the march past and instructed all the officials to prevent any kind of violation of Covid-19 guidelines.

Various committees were formed for the Independence Day celebration and responsibilities were allotted to them.

ASP Kumarachandra, zilla panchayat secretary Kiran Pednekar and various district level officers were present.

    Do we need this celebration .
    We have independence after Covid 19 started.
    All celebrations should be stopped till Covid 19 vanishes.
    This time is not for celebrations.

    As always DC G Jagadeesha the best advice to all regarding this Covid-19 crisis. All people should adhere to the safety guidelines at all times especially during the coming Independence Day celebration where many people will get together for various reasons. Prevention is the best medicine for Coronavirus for so far there is no cure.
