Bangalore, Mar 14: Monday March 15 is the last day for submission of nomination papers for the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagarapalike election. All the three prominent parties having a major stake in the election, are grappling with internal squabbles in finalizing their selection, as the ‘loyal’  and long-time activists of all these parties are angry at the way the ‘newcomers’ are swindling away their chances.

The BJP came out with a list of 154 candidates on Saturday.  JDS has announced names of 150 candidates in two phases. The party leaders were found working overtime, struggling to pacify the disgruntled party men and keeping the party united.

The Congress Party appears to have been bothered by the demand for 40 seats, put forth by the Youth Congress. Student leaders too held a protest in front of the Congress office, demanding for a ticket for the top office bearers of National Students Union of India. The situation is volatile, and all the parties are facing protests and anger of the disgruntled people, who are likely to part ways with their parent parties once the lists are announced. The parties are also worried about the possibility of having to face a large number of people who may revolt against the party and file nominations as independent candidates.
 

The local BJP MLAs and leaders have been pointing an accusing finger at ministers, R Ashok and Katta Subrahmanya Naidu, for trying to corner highest number of tickets for their followers. It is said that the Chief Minister is staying away from ticket distribution process. MP Anant Kumar held parleys with the RSS leaders to finalize the list of his followers who could be accommodated in this election.
