UP Police officer asks girl to dance before filing FIR

Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), Aug 16 (IANS): A video of a teenage girl has gone viral on social media, in which she has alleged that an Inspector of the Govind Nagar police station asked her to dance in lieu of registering an FIR against the nephew of her landlord.

The 16-year-old girl alleged in the video that the Inspector summoned her to the police station during odd hours and asked her to dance in front of him.

The girl with her family lives in a rented accommodation in Dabauli West area of Govind Nagar.

The girl's family earns a livelihood by doing "jagran" parties. They had tried to lodge a complaint against the nephew of their landlord, accusing him of molesting the girl, besides forcibly evacuating them from the rented portion of the house a few days ago, the family said.

The mother of the girl said the accused Anup Yadav, nephew of the landlady, had on July 26 barged into their house and attacked them.

"Again, on August 7 night, my daughter was molested by him while she was on her way back home from the market. It was when she approached Inspector Govind Nagar, Anurag Mishra, he asked my daughter to first dance in front him and then he will register her complaint," the girl's mother told reporters.

The Govind Nagar Circle Officer Vikas Kumar Pandey, said that there was already a dispute between the two sides with regard to possession of a house.

"There seems to be no substance in the charges. Prima facie it appears that the girl has made the video viral in order to create pressure on the police. However, a probe is underway in this regard," said Pandey further said.

All BJP Supporters have only one answer "SUCH THINGS WERE HAPPENING DURING UPA TIME ALSO"
Arre, DISGUSTING Chaddis, that's the reason no, people VOTED for "BARBAADI JANARA PARTY " to improve the quality of life???
What's the use if you are counting UPA's faults and comparing with yours??? At the end both parties are not only same but your rule is more MISERABLE than UPA!!!!

Raj Shetty, Mangalore/Dubai... I was not blaming the Government over there but the people and the media... Here shouldn't we blame the government for leaving the Police loose for weak governing??? If the government act tough on these police they won't do this type of cheap stuffs.

@Krishnere..If u read my previous comment.. I did mention clearly that 'corrupt officers/politicians are in large'.. there are loop holes in our system itself... these are uncultured barbarians... they have lost humanity... To a certain extent YES we can blame the govt, but in reality it is impossible to do micro-management. The situation in UP/Bihar/Patna/Haryana/Delhi was even worse during UPA regime, probably some readers will not accept the fact but pin point the failure of the present govt which is nothing new....Since U have raised the issue, now I would like to ask.. what would U do to stop such unwanted activities...?

    Raj,

Though you said that what government can do here, your lines "even worse during UPA regime" doesn't make sense.
If that is true, people voted for a better government, but that so called better government is going??
I have noticed people proclaiming the present UP, CM as the best CM of India on one hand and blaming 70 years of congress rule for underdeveloped state.
If I am not wrong, Congress last ruled UP, in 1989. You know it's ages, before few people who comment born. Does the opposition parties turned UP into Singapore??
We all know, during UPA rule, the rape in Delhi, and there is no doubt about it. Isn't the party which is in power at present , made this an election issue and won? What they did to change it??
If you really have statistics about the rape of minors (after the Delhi rape, we all expected the incident to reduce) since the new government came to power, You would not be comparing with those lines.
Because 1) People voted for a better governance
    2) There are more rapes that before when we should expect less.
