Punjab man booked for running over dog after Maneka Gandhi shares video

Chandigarh, Aug 19: A man in Kapurthala was booked on Tuesday, August 18 after a video was shared by BJP MP Maneka Gandhi on social media which showed the man killing a dog by running over it by his car.

Gandhi tweeted, "He is a breeder and seller of dogs for dog fights. This is what he does to dogs when they are no longer useful. This dog died after 30 minutes of being in excruciating pain".

Gurjinder Singh, identified as the accused, was booked under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC), after a representative from People for Animals filed a complaint, the police said.

A resident of Dandupur in Kapurthala, Singh has been absconding, it is said.

Kapurthala senior superintendent of police (SSP), Jaspreet Singh Sidhu over the phone to the media said, "We have registered a case in this regard".

A case is registered at Talwandi Chaudhrian police station in Kapurthala.

The police said that the accused is said to be engaged in the dog breeding business.

    Why do Idiots compare innocent animals to selfish humans, U give 10 pieces of chicken to a dog, he shell take 1 from that and leave the rest to others, u give humans 10 peace and then he shell take 10 pieces without even sharing one , why do u people wait mainaka to raise voice for lynching, there are 1000 of other party workers too, ask them to raise the voice for lynching

    Where was Menaka when people were lynched, she did not utter a word, in BJP GOvt no value for human lives, if she can raise voice for dog (it is good) why not for humans, if she is so disturbed by this she should leave BJP party who believes supports in lynching people, if at all her concern for humans/animals are genuine. Otherwise it proves all her concerns are fake and to be in news.
