Chandigarh, Aug 19: A man in Kapurthala was booked on Tuesday, August 18 after a video was shared by BJP MP Maneka Gandhi on social media which showed the man killing a dog by running over it by his car.
Gandhi tweeted, "He is a breeder and seller of dogs for dog fights. This is what he does to dogs when they are no longer useful. This dog died after 30 minutes of being in excruciating pain".
Gurjinder Singh, identified as the accused, was booked under Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and the Indian Penal Code (IPC), after a representative from People for Animals filed a complaint, the police said.

A resident of Dandupur in Kapurthala, Singh has been absconding, it is said.
Kapurthala senior superintendent of police (SSP), Jaspreet Singh Sidhu over the phone to the media said, "We have registered a case in this regard".
A case is registered at Talwandi Chaudhrian police station in Kapurthala.
The police said that the accused is said to be engaged in the dog breeding business.
