Bengaluru, Aug 25: A sub-inspector of police, duly supported by his uncle-in-law, kidnapped a man in movie style and robbed him of Rs 26.5 lac he was holding at that time. The sub-inspector and his accomplice, the uncle-in-law, have been arrested.

It is said that on Wednesday, August 19, a person identified as Shivakumar, as per the instructions of his boss Mohan, had collected Rs 26.5 lac from Bharath from Kumbarpet. He was seated in a car near the metro station at Chickpet here.

Within minutes, a few came there, threatened Shivakumar, and snatched away his mobile phones. They ordered Shivakumar to drive the car to a spot as per their instructions. They took him near the Unity Building, where a few who were following in another car, arrived at the spot. They snatched cash away from him and allowed him to go on reaching near Lalbagh here.

SJ Park station sub-inspector, Jeevan Kumar, who was in his uniform, was also involved with others in this robbery all along. It is said that Jnanaprakash, a journalist, had planned this robbery. Jeevan Kumar has married Jnanaprakash's niece. Inspired by the passion to become rich overnight, Kumar along with his uncle-in-law is learnt to have committed this abduction and robbery.

A person named Kishore had informed Jnanaprakash about the fact that Shivakumar was holding cash. Jnanaprakash along with Jeevan Kumar robbed Shivakumar and shared the money, the police said. They are now searching for other persons involved in this crime.
