Srinagar, Aug 29 (IANS): The Ganderbal district administration in central Kashmir has imposed restrictions in the district for one week -- from August 29 till September 5 -- due to the continuous surge in the number of Covid-19 positive cases for the last few days.
The district administration has, however, announced relaxations for medical emergencies and other essential services.
Following the imposition of the curbs, Ganderbal District Magistrate Shafqat Iqbal visited various areas of the district to monitor the implementation of the lockdown.
Several shops were sealed after they were found violating orders. Besides, an amount of Rs 9,300 was collected as fine from various people who were found without masks.
While inspecting medical shops, the DM exhorted that sanitizers should be available at all medical stores and that no person should be allowed to enter a store without wearing a mask.
