Haveri, Aug 30: Home minister Basavaraj Bommai said that the drug mafia that is spread throughout the state will be decimated from the root.

Bommai spoke to the scribes in the city on Saturday. He further said, "We will take to task anyone who is behind this network. Earlier governments did not take any action against the drug mafia. Now we have declared a war on drugs. A huge operation will be carried out to control the flow of drugs."

"Once the schools and colleges start functioning in the state, we will create awareness about drugs. If the drugs are found in the institute or hostel the respective administrative committee will be held responsible," said Bommai.

Responding to the statement of former CM and leader of opposition Siddaramaiah asking the BJP government whether the people of Karnataka should eat mud if the union government does not release GST funds, Bommai said, "I do not know whether the people might have eaten mud if the Siddaramaiah-led government was ruling in the state during coronavirus pandemic but with BJP government in power such a situation will not arise."

"Union and state governments are facing financial crisis due to coronavirus. Discussion is held with the union government so that the state will not face any financial burden. The discussion has reached a certain phase. Union government has formed a plan in which the state government will not have difficulty in repaying principle as well as interest. This plan will arrive in one or two days time. Then we will convey our opinion clearly. In the GST council meeting all the state governments regardless of BJP or Congress have discussed on the issue together. Siddaramaiah is a senior politician. He has presented the most number of budgets in Karnataka. Instead of doing politics, he can give his valuable advise in this matter," said minister Bommai.
