Daijiworld Media Network - Bantwal (SP)

Bantwal, Sep 1: The B C Road town beautification plan went under way on Monday August 31. The work of levelling the land under the flyover was taken up towards the construction toilets there.

B C Road happens to be the headquarters of Bantwal taluk. Beautification of B C Road is a concept that is close to the heart of local MLA Rajesh Naik. The plan envisages developing B C Road into a city backed by exquisite design.

State revenue minister R Ashok, had laid the foundation stone for this ambitious project at B C Road on October 21 last. Meetings were held with the active participation of the MLA and the MP in this respect and efforts were made towards the speedy execution of this project. Obtaining permission from various departments including the National Highways Authority of India took time. Because of coronavirus-induced lockdown, the plan execution got delayed further.

In the first phase, toilets are being built. There will be four toilets, two each for the men and the women. Ten urinals, six for men and four for the women, will also be built. One among the toilets will be disabled-friendly. The work of laying interlocks under the flyover, painting, gardening, parking etc will be taken up simultaneously.

As per a decision taken, the road between the main road till the old theatre on Kaikunje connecting road will be developed into a concrete road at an expense of about two crore rupees. This road will have road dividers, street lights etc. A circle will be built on national highway opposite the KSRTC bus stand. For this, a proposal has been sent to the National Highways Authority of India through KSRTC. Once the approval is received, construction of the circle will be taken up. In the next phase, bus bay, installation of CCTV cameras, parking for two-wheelers, footpath on the service road etc will be taken up.

Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik, said that the B C Road beautification plan has been taken up beginning with the construction of toilets. He said that it took time to get permission from the national highway and other authorities.

    Mr. Nayak,

Good Idea, but before beautification B C road need a Proper Private Bust Stand. All Express Buses to and from Mangalore are stopping on highway side and blocking the traffic. Also passengers are forced to stand on road side in scorching sun or heavy downpour.
