Mangalore, Mar 28:  “The media should highlight the good deeds in society and should not focus on evils so that the society turns to good through the media”, said Sri Esha Vittaladasa Swami of Sandipani Mutt in Kemaru, at the fifth anniversary programme of news channel ‘Coastal Times’.

Speaking after the inauguration of the programme, he said that the society, especially this district which has been in the spotlight for communal violence, can be corrected by the media by focusing on the good work in society. “When evils are highlighted in media, it has bad results”, he added.

Rohan Montiero, proprietor, Property Real Estate, Lancy Mascarenhas, proprietor, Lancy Constructions, Lester D’Souza, proprietor, Souza Hatcheries, and John D’Silva, principal, St Aloysius Pre-university College, were honoured by Coastal Times.

Kushi, a resident of Bejai Anegundi, was felicitated for her performance in ‘Superstar’, the reality programme on Suvarna Channel.

V Ponnuraj, deputy commissioner of the district, Nalin Kumar Kateel, Member of Parliament, Rajendra, deputy mayor of MCC, and Sadananda Shetty, chairman, Shridevi Education Trust, were the guests.

Agnel Rodrigues, managing director, Coastal Times, welcomed all.

It should be more cosmopolitan while conferring honors. Coastal Times was a channel for the whole society and not for a particular community.
