Mangaluru: Chief patron of Kalangann Fr Ramesh Naik Bandodkar passes away

Mangaluru, Sep 1: The chief patron of Kalangann, an important Konkani organization Mandd Sobhann, Fr Ramesh Naik Bandodkar passed away in Rosary church residence, Mumbai dockyard on Tuesday, September 1 due to heart attack. “His last rites will be held in St Andrew Church Bandra tomorrow, September 2,” stated a press release from Mumbai Archdiocese.

Fr Ramesh who was the lover of art and culture realizing the importance of Kalangann building being constructed in 1996, had collected funds from his friends and helped to complete the construction. The auditorium has been named after his mother Gracy Ganga Naik Bandodkar considering his service. He had served as the main promoter of Kalangann building committee and the executive member of Mandd Sobhann for the past 20 years.

Mandd Sobhann Gurkar Eric Ozario, president Luvi Pinto, Roy Castelino, Kalangann chairman Ronald Mendonca, Mumbai and executive committee members have expressed their condolences on the demise of Fr Ramesh Naik.

    Fr. Ramesh a great human being and deeply involved in Konkani language and literature. He was great supporter of Kalangann. Konkani people greatly admire his contribution . He was friend to all who came in touch with him. He was a good friend of me. I will miss for ever.We pray for the repose of his Soul. May his soul rest in peace.
