Bantwal, Mar 30: “Communal clashes are the worst forms of violence. They are more abominable than murders. Irrespective of who sows the seeds of hatred, crush them ruthlessly. Punish those who take law into their hands without fear. At the same time, maintain equidistance with the people of all the religions and communities and treat everyone equally,” advised Karnataka State Human Rights Commission chairman, Nadoja Dr Justice S R Nayak.

He was speaking at the special meeting of taluk level officials held at the Travellers Bungalow here on Monday March 29.

He advised the labour department not to behave as if they have no eyes or ears, and urged them to do away with the practice of identifying child labourers, releasing them from their present places, and then discarding them on the streets. “If you are not able to rehabilitate them, let them be where they are,” he said. He asked the health department to recognize that the people come to them because they do not have means to go to a private hospital. “You are like saviours for them. Give them respect, behave humanely with them and treat them well. Otherwise, they will curse you,” he said.

He also asked the officials of the other department to ensure that all the facilities meant for the have-nots reaches them, and helps them to improve their living standards. The government employees were told to make doubly sure that the benefits under the government schemes do not reach ineligible persons and said that he expected every one of them to provide good administration, stick to rules and work responsibly towards delivering social justice.

Tahsildar, C N Manjunath, taluk panchayat executive officer, Vasantraj Shetty, police circle inspector, K S Nanjunde Gowda and officials of various departments were present. Dr Nayak received petitions from people and then proceeded to Odiyoor temple.

DR.S.R.Nayak, You are 100% per cent right in your comments about communal clashes. It is better to stop from the root stage otherwise it will grow like Al Qaida, Taliban and latter even govt. wont able to control it. People must aware, why political parties back these communal clashes for their selfish benefits and not for human development. Those who are involved in it must think twice what their religion taught them and not what politicians tell them. One must afraid of God in these matters and not politicians.
