Islamabad, Sep 7 (IANS): With the emergence of 14 new fatalities, Pakistan's death toll due to the heavy monsoon rains has increased to 233, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) said.
According to the NDMA's report on Sunday, the victims comprised 105 men, 39 women and 89 children, reports The Express Tribune.
The report said that Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) recorded highest number of casualties at 195 , followed by 84 in Sindh, 19 in Balochistan, 16 in Punjab, 11 in Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B) and 10 in Kashmir.
The monsoon rains and urban flooding damaged 10 access roads, 10 bridges, two hotels, three shops, five mosques and six powerhouses.
Moreover, 1,249 houses were partially damaged and 1,359 houses were completely destroyed.
Recent spells of monsoon rains also caused death and destruction in many areas of Sindh, including Karachi.
