London, April 1 (IANS) With celebrity judge Simon Cowell all set to leave the show 'American Idol' after the end of this season, producers are contemplating closing it down.
'Producers know Simon Cowell really makes the show and they feel like they could go only one season without him and the quality will suffer after that,' imdb.com quoted a source as saying.
Bosses behind the programme are apparently worried that the show will take a dip once Cowell bows out following the current season to launch a US version of his hit British show 'The X Factor'.
So far, eight seasons of the show that started in 2002 have been made.
