Mangaluru: Nativity of Mary celebrated with pious festal fervour at FMCI

Mangaluru, Sep 9: The Father Muller Charitable Institutions celebrated the festal Nativity mass in faith and honour of blessed mother Mary on September 8. The mass was held at dawn in full preparedness of the ongoing pandemic for the benefit of the in-house which included faculty, staff and students of the institutions.

Blessing of the new corn and freshly harvested vegetables was conducted at the entrance of St Joseph Chapel by the director of FMCI, Fr Richard A Coelho which was followed by a procession to individually venerate the statue of blessed Bambina Mary with an offering of a flower. The formal mass procession was led by the altar servers along with the priests of the management.

The main celebrant, Fr Richard A Coelho welcomed those gathered in the introductory rite and began with the Eucharistic prayers. The homily was preached by Fr Jeevan Sequeira who centred on the protection offered by mother Mary in times of distress. Mother Mary takes us all together and protects us through her intercessions. The hospital staff and students gathered were in the ministry of healing of the sick and those vulnerable to suffering in the hospital. The pandemic called for even more emphasis of this ministry impressing upon to carry ever more fervently this mission. As a mother, her protection and guardianship is with us at every stage of life's journey.



Fr Rudolph Ravi D’Sa, Fr Ajith B Menezes, Fr Felix Monteiro, Fr George D’Souza, Fr Sylvester Lobo, Fr Nelson Pais concelebrated the mass. The choir comprised of the hospital's nursing staff, Sr Pearl, Anusha, Ma Rinu, Laveena with the keyboard played by Dr Tia Thomas, ENT PG. The decoration of the altar was done by Sr Deepa and Sr Janet, the offertory procession was also led by Sr Janet D‘Souza.

The new corn and sweets were distributed on behalf of the management to all those gathered.
