Kundapur, Sep 11: The age-old connecting road under the limits of Hattiangadi gram panchayat in Kanyana village which connects Mahavishnu temple of Thotabailu with Thotabail Ganigarakeri was encroached by a local person and had closed it for public use. Affected public of the area had raised a complaint in this regard with the assistant commissioner. Accordingly, the encroached road was opened for public by revenue inspector.

There are more than 35 houses in the vicinity of Thotabailu Ganigara Keri. The people of these houses had to use the encroached road in order to approach the main road. Though this road was marked clearly in the map that it is for public use, the adjacent land owner had encroached the road and closed it for public use.

Though panchayat and concerned officials had warned the individual who had encroached the public road to vacate the same, he had not done so. The same was done on the morning of September 11 in the presence of revenue inspector, village accountant, former presidents of panchayat and public.

Speaking on the occasion, revenue inspector Raghavendra said, "Public of Thotabailu area of Kanyana village had given a complaint in this regard to the assistant commissioner. On inspection it was noticed that the public road was encroached and wooden logs were placed on it. This road connects many houses. So we got the same cleared today with the help of village accountant, village assistant and public. This road is separated even in the Akrama Sakrama sanction map. There is no opportunity for anyone to close this road in future. If anyone does so, strict legal action will be taken against the individual."

Rajiva Shetty, former president of Hattiangadi gram panchayat, former member of panchayat Santhosh Shetty Thotabailu, village accountant of Kanyana Somashekhar, village assistant Mahesha and public were present on the occasion.
