POCO India GM quits to become an entrepreneur

New Delhi, Sep 11 (IANS): Mamohan Chandolu, General Manager of POCO India on Friday took to Twitter to announce his resignation from the current post to become an entrepreneur.

"It is always difficult to bid adieu to something that we are really close with. Will be starting a new journey of becoming an entrepreneur at the end of this year. I express my gratitude to everyone who has been with me throughout this journey," Chandolu said in a tweet.

Under his leadership, POCO became an independent brand from the house of Xiaomi and introduced the X2 smartphone.

"While I will miss working with my incredible team, I can't wait to test out all the things that I have learnt at POCO and Xiaomi. I will always love both the brands for what they have taught me at such a young age." he said.

Chandolu is a BITS Pilani and IIM Lucknow alumnus with experience in startups and consultancy firms.

He joined Xiaomi back in 2016 and led the POCO India team.

POCO last week launched M2 smartphone with MediaTek Helio G80 octa-core processor and 6GB RAM in India at a starting price of Rs 10,999 for the 64GB storage variant.

The other variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage is priced at Rs 12,499.

The devices will be available on September 15 in slate blue, pitch black and brick red colour options, the company said in a statement.
