Mangaluru, Jul 6: In a significant step toward advancing technological education and aligning with the rapidly evolving semiconductor industry, St Joseph Engineering College has officially started a new department of VLSI Design and Technology. This milestone initiative reflects the institution’s commitment to fostering innovation, industry readiness, and cutting-edge research in one of the most critical domains of modern electronics.
Very large scale integration (VLSI) is the backbone of today’s digital revolution, enabling the design and fabrication of integrated circuits that power everything from smartphones and laptops to advanced medical devices and space technology. Recognizing the growing global demand for skilled professionals in semiconductor design and manufacturing, the college has taken a proactive step by introducing this specialized department equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and an industry-oriented curriculum.


The newly established department aims to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry requirements. It offers undergraduate programs designed to equip students with strong theoretical knowledge as well as practical skills in chip design, embedded systems, semiconductor fabrication, and electronic design automation (EDA).
