Davangere: Jagaran Vedike Demands CID Probe into Obscene Video on Swamiji

Davangere, Apr 3: The district unit of Hindu Jagaran Vedike has demanded for entrusting of the case in which an obscene video was purported to have been shot with the ulterior aim of undermining the reputation of Sri Raghaveshwara Swamiji of Ramachandrapur Mutt, to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). District convener of the Vedike, Veeresh, and office bearer, Deepak Kanade, made this demand, addressing a press conference here on Friday April 2.

They alleged that a video has been shot by the people who are intolerant about Sri Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swamiji’s popularity, in Kerala, by using the services of a man who looks like the Swamiji. They claimed that a woman who resembles a movie star was also cast in the video. “In this connection, a person named Ravi Kodalagere, who looks like the Swamiji, has been arrested by the Mangalore policemen. The fake cine actress had been hired by paying to her handsomely,” they said.

The two further explained that the Vedike suspects the handiwork of an international racket, peeved at the Swamiji’s relentless campaign against cow slaughter, in shooting the said video. “Some Christian missionaries and a New Delh-based English television channel are suspected to have provided funds for this video,” they said.

“Sri Raghaveshwara Swamiji has dedicated his entire life for the protection of cows, which some vested interests find undigestable. This conspiracy was the handiwork of these people. It would be in the interest of justice if the case is referred to the CID. At the same time, if the TV channel is found to have played a role in the video, the channel should be banned,” they demanded.

The Vedike office bearers also claimed that the inspector general of police (western range), Gopal Hosur, has said that three persons were questioned relating to the attempt to dent the reputation of the Swamiji. Laptop, CDs and pen drives have been recovered from him in this connection, they added.
