Babri demolition case verdict on Sep 30, all accused asked to be present in court

Lucknow, Sep 16: A special CBI court hearing the Babri mosque demolition case will be pronouncing its judgment on September 30.

All the accused are asked to be present in the court on the verdict day, as directed by judge S K Yadav.

Among the 32 accused, prominent are former deputy prime minister L K Advani and other BJP leaders M M Joshi, Kalyan Singh, Uma Bharti and Vinay Katiyar.

The special judge started writing the judgment after the arguments of the defence and prosecution concluded on September 1, CBI counsel Lalit Singh told PTI.

In connection to the case, 351 witnesses and about 600 documentary evidence were produced by the CBI. The karsevaks had demolished the Babri mosque in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992.

    Babri masjid demolition is the main reason for the all the subsequent communal riots happened later till today.

    If Advani and MM Joshi are not convicted, whatever the verdict may be, I can say justice in not delivered.
    As far as I remember, the harmonious co-living of hindus and Muslims was severely disrupted after the Rathyathra and the subsequent demolition of Babri mosque. The rift created then has been widening ever since and I do not think that can be patched up any time soon.
