Puttur, Sep 20: In a shocking incident, a woman allegedly fed poison-laced juice to her children and then attempted suicide at Nidpalli here. Her eight-year-old daughter died in the incident, sources said. The incident came to light on Sunday September 20.

Sources said that on September 16, Divyashree (29), wife of Raghunath, a resident of Sajankady in Paduvannur here, fed juice with poison to her children Ajay (10) and Anvita (8). She then tried to take her own life.

According to reports, Divyashree suspected her husband Raghunath of having an extramarital affair. It is said that after the lockdown was imposed in March this year, Divyashree along with her two children left her home and came to stay at a relative's house in Nidpalii.

On September 16, a mentally disturbed Divyashree not only gave the poison-laced juice to her children, but also drank it herself. The poison however did not have immediate effect. After this, she went to another relative's house in Mangaluru.

On September 18, her daughter Anvita started vomiting and was rushed to hospital. However, she failed to respond to treatment and passed away late night on Saturday September 19.

A case has been registered against Divyashree as well as her husband Raghunath.

How sad .A innocent child lost its life because of mother. She should have protected them but now one is dead, other dont know.cruelity.Because of doubting infidelity of husband ,she feeds poison to children and drinks self. Here she should have realized she was the reason for going away from husband due to corona to relatives. If mother wanted to die is another matter, but why innocent children?May God give childs soul eternal rest with angels .women who are in distress please approach some institution ,or friends to help.Simply dont kill children.

Extra marital relationship is not love. It is only the selfishness of the person involved. Real love and commitment takes years to build together, which involves sacrifices. By this affair, you are putting your own marriage in dangerous situation, which involves your own innocent children and the person who had come to you as life partner. I really feel very sorry for our such sisters.

It is morally wrong, since you have given promise in the presence of God that you two are inseparable till death. India's top court has ruled, adultery is not a crime. But, still a person who believes that his wife is his personal property and indulges in adultery is not better than a pig. I know, though the man may go scot free, under the present court ruling, he cannot escape from the one to whom, finally he is destined to go.
