Take to heart the three watchwords- stay focussed, strive for leadership through influence and take decisive and bold action and others will emulate you. Be the light of the students and salt of the institution,” said Mohan Das, the principal-in-charge for day boarders at Sharada Vidyaniketana, Talapady, speaking on the occasion of the virtual investiture ceremony at Shakthi Residential School as the chief guest.
"Concentrate or focus on something big to achieve the challenging task. Let us redefine leadership, instead of thinking of it as a position, take it as an influence. Be the salt of the earth giving taste by its influence and preserving the moral fabric of the society. You should influence the student community, not because of any position but by courage, honesty, sincerity and commitment showed by you in the midst of great difficulty," he said.
"'A leader is the one who knows the way, goes the way and shows the way', said John C Maxwell. Our motto is to create leaders for tomorrow and this special investiture ceremony turns it into reality. Investiture ceremony is not just about providing titles, but about conferring responsibilities to the students, to take charge of the school and take it to the height they desire with their leadership and decision making skills, communication and teamwork," said Vidya Kamath G, the principal of Shakthi Residential School.
"The school parliament is formed after scrutinising and selecting the earnest candidates to give them a feel of functioning of an official administrative body. The selected students were honoured with their respective titles such as head girl, head boy, home minister, the sports minister, cultural minister, HRD minister, minister for Health and Discipline, minister for Environment and the respective deputy ministers along with the house leaders.
The students’ council took the pledge to hold the school motto of Loyalty, Truth and Honour in high esteem. The chief guest congratulated them and advised them to be impartial and honest in discharging their duties. He also encouraged them to sustain their values. He reminded them that with position comes responsibility. The principal of Shakthi Residential School administered the oathtaking by the students.
The administrator of Shakthi Residential School Dr K C Naik encouraged the newly appointed members of the council to put in honest efforts for future endeavours and become an inspiration for others. The establishment of a student council gives students an opportunity to acquire the sort of communication, planning and organisational skills which will be beneficial to them in their future he conveyed.
The programme began with a prayer followed by a welcome dance by Sinchana Hegde of grade 8.
The head girl, Chinmayee Bhat and Sidhanth J Achar, the head boy promised to shoulder the responsibility firmly and efficiently. The rest of the council members followed.
Ramesh K, the chief advisor, Prakyath Rai, the Institute Development Officer, the co-ordinators Poornesh P and Rajesh Kharvi along with the teaching staff were present on the occasion. The parents and the students joined live from home.
Bhavyashri, the Math teacher welcomed the guest and the invitees while Bhavya Amin, EVS teacher proposed the vote of thanks. Shrivara, Sanskrit teacher sought the blessings of the Almighty and Sharanappa, the Kannada teacher concluded by singing the National Anthem. Bhaskara N, the Social Science teacher compered the show.
The management and staff are sure that the student council members will help and contribute to the expansion of the school.
