Jharkhand Police officer arrested while taking bribe


Ranchi, Sep 24 (IANS): A Police official was arrested while taking a bribe in Jharkhand's Palamau district on Thursday.

The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) team arrested Santosh Kumar, Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI), while he was taking a bribe of Rs 6000. The arrested ASI has been sent to jail.

The ACB team arrested the ASI posted at Hussainbad police station of Palamau district. Ashish Kumar, a resident of Sanda Goraiya village, had lodged a complaint with the ACB that the ASI had demanded Rs 8000 to remove his name from a FIR.

The ACB team laid a trap on Thursday and caught the ASI red handed while he was taking Rs 6000 as bribe.
