Mangalore: Yamini Foundation’s ‘Save Tiger’ Campaign Kicks Off in City

Mangalore, Apr 11: Television serial actor Shobha M Lolanath inaugurated the ‘Save Tiger Awareness Campaign’ at a programme organized by Yamini Foundation in association with Sangam Friends Club, Jeppinamogaru, and Lions Club, Milagres unit.
The campaign was inaugurated with Shobha pasting stickers about the campaign on vehicles. The foundation will continue the campaign in the city by visiting schools and colleges.
Shobha, briefing about the campaign, said that the number of tigers in India has decreased to nearly 1,411 from 7,000 in 1932 and this is due to killing tigers for various reasons.
“So, we need to save tigers. In future, there will not be any tigers in the country if we do not take some kind of precautionary measure”, she added.
“The use of tiger nails should be banned, else the killing of tigers will continue”, said Shobha and added that the usage of tiger nails as a good luck charm and any such thing is a wrong concept.
“The campaign will continue all over the state and mainly in cities where there is an awareness about the need for protection of tigers by not using tiger nails, skins, and related products”, she added.
Members and office-bearers of Sangam Friends Club and Lions Club, Milagres unit, were present during the programme.
Yamini Foundation is promoted by Garuda Natya Sangha, Bangalore.
It began the campaign from Bangalore with the intention of spreading the message all over the state.
It plans to paste ‘Save Tiger’ stickers on vehicles besides conducting speeches in schools and colleges. Shobha is also the secretary of the foundation.
