Mangalore: Canines Head to Kadri Park for ‘Kudla Dog Show-2010’

Mangalore, Apr 11: Kadri Park in the city turned to a dog’s paradise on Sunday April 11, with various breeds of dogs exhibited by their owners as part of the ‘Kudla Dog Show-2010’ and rabies awareness camp.
The dog show, organized by district branches of Karnataka State Government Veterinarians Association (KSGVA) and Karnataka Veterinary Association (KVA), was inaugurated by district in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar.
The judging and obediency show saw numerous dogs and puppies grouped according to age and breed. There were nearly one hundred dogs in the show. Separate stalls were provided for the dogs at the show.
According to the organizers, there were 30 breeds of dogs in the show and a Great Dane owned by Devdas Poojary of Bejai attracted the most visitors due to its size.
There were two dogs of this breed at the show and the other one was owned by advocate Raghavendra.
The visitors at the show got a special chance to glance at various breeds including Labrador, Doberman, Pug, St Bernard, German Shepherd, Dachshund, Pomeranian, and others.
A separate place was arranged to exhibit details about rabies with audio and visuals.
Dr K V Halagappa, president of KSGVA, Dr Ashok Kumar, secretary of KSGVA, Dr Shilpa B N, convener of dog show core committee, and others were present. Agnel Rodrigues conducted the show.
